Tanaí cú

Discovery

This breed was not discovered as much as curated over years of breeding beautiful spaniels and sighthounds, eventually using magic to extend the breed's life permanently and consistently. The elves longed for a long-lived non-human companion, that of which wasn't already something of wiser intelligence than them of course. The elven lifespan is long and lonely, most creatures only remaining within a percentage of their lifespan. With the Tanaí cú, their lifespan has reached that almost of a humans, even if that is still only a fraction of an elf's age. They aren't terribly good for most tasks except flagging down fallen animals and catching small, swift prey, but are known for being terrific home companions and an incredibly healthy and well-tempered breed. Most seen are given fashion cuts for style, as well as to keep the home from becoming covered in their fur.

Description

Tanaí cú are sighthounds bred and built by the long lived elves to be companions for them long term. Most creatures that are alive have significantly shorter life-spans than elves, making it hard to find that close bond with creatures as well as having a lot of lonely points in life. Their build and overall health are exquisite, and original purpose was for hunting  and flagging down caught prey. However in recent years, they have become more family companions and for show than pure purpose, many fashionable for their long fur and accessories to boot. They aren't well-suited to jobs of protection or water retrieval, having a rather thin frame with lean muscle making it hard for them to swim well and easy to get injured in a fight. Their tall ears rest towards the side but can become fully erect, looking like that of a rabbit making it easy to flag down whatever prey they caught or found. Their fur is long and wavy, occasionally coming in the straight or tighter curl variety, though those textures aren't considered standard. The horns upon their head are branchlike in texture, but preferred to be naturally short to prevent frequent shavings and cuttings.
